This tool is built on the CAGED method - that’s C, A, G, E, and D chord shapes. These five shapes repeat up the neck, covering the entire fretboard.
The Intelio Spark Chords Finder shows you every CAGED position instantly.
Turn the inner wheel until it shows the key.
Choose from the top row: MAJ, MIN, 7, MAJ7, M7, DIM7
The tool shows 5 shapes for each chord type, each in a different fretboard position.
Check the number in the fret window (middle of the card) for the starting fret.
Vertical lines = strings.
Horizontal lines = frets.
Black dots = finger placement.
"R" = root note (gives the chord its name).
"X" above a string = do not play that string.
Important: If dots appear on the ‘0’ fret, don’t press those strings - the nut is doing the work. The dots simply show which strings are played in the chord.
If a chord shape feels too difficult to play at first - don’t worry! You don’t need to strum all the strings to make it sound great.
Try picking individual notes instead of full strums
Use partial shapes to add your own style and groove
Many pro players simplify complex chords to create unique sounds. Focus on the feeling, not perfection.
